Shrimp and Cheese Grits
Grits is a common food in the south. They got their orgin from Northern America. Grits is mostly course ground corn.
Grits is similar to other thick corn based porridges such as polenta, farina and grit gruels. They can be served hot or cold and plain or with other additives. A popular additive is shrimp and cheese. Some Yankees will put sugar in their grits.
At Chef Point Cafe, the popular Ft. Worth breakfast restaurant in a gas station, they serve Shrimp and Cheese Grits for Saturday morning breakfast. The dish consists of sauteed jumbo shrimp over fried egg on three cheese grits.
