Caposaldo Pinot Grigio: An Italian Caress
Fort Worth Restaurants - Fine Dining
So what, you may ask, is a Pinot Grigio? Well, if you have never heard of this grape that is native to northeastern Italy then perhaps you have heard of its cousin, the Pinto Noir? The Pinot Grigio is a mutation of the Pinot Noir grape but like the Little Engine That Could this delightful grape has forged a name for itself among wine consumers around the world.
This grape does best in well-drained soils and in areas that have mild springs and hot, dry summers; it has found a home in Germany, Oregon, California and Italy where it is known as a light-bodied wine, light in color and very fruity in taste.
The Caposaldo Pinot Grigio is pale yellow in color, almost the color of straw. The aroma is of apples and acacia blossoms and almonds and it is slightly acidic. When pairing with foods the Pinot Grigio is a safe bet with pastas and fish dishes; we find it is wise to steer clear of anything with citrus in it as the citrus has a habit of overpowering the wine. At Chef Point Café we would suggest this wine with the following dishes:
Of course, as with all wines, this is a purely individual endeavor and what tastes good to one person may not taste good to another. That is one of the beauties of wine tasting, finding individual foods that match up well to some of your favorite wines.
We offer the Pinot Grigio to you with pride and we hope you will offer your comments to us; your opinion is important to us as we want to continue to serve you as best we can.
