In Italy when a wine has met certain qualifications it is given a classification. Those wines that do not adhere to traditional blending laws are labeled “Super Tuscany” meaning they did not meet certain blending requirements.
These wines were originally given a label that said “vino da tavola” meaning “table wine.” However, due to advanced winemaking techniques these wines are anything but lowly table wines but rather some of the finest in Italy.
