Thanksgiving dinner is a lot of work for a meal that disappears in twenty minutes.

At Chef Point, everyone gets to order what they want. Turkey for the traditionalists. Prime rib for the person who was never that excited about turkey. Oxtails, salmon, stuffed shrimp and chicken and waffles for everyone else.

Thanksgiving is our busiest day of the year. Reservations—especially from 11 AM to 1 PM—fill early.

What Thanksgiving Looks Like at Chef Point

Cajun Smoked Turkey Dinner
Smoked turkey with cornbread sage dressing, creamy mashed potatoes, garlic green beans, brown gravy, cranberry sauce and a warm roll. The full Thanksgiving plate—without a sink full of dishes waiting at home.

Smoked Prime Rib
Twelve ounces of slow-smoked prime rib with mashed potatoes, garlic green beans, béarnaise and horseradish cream. For the person at the table who was hoping Thanksgiving involved steak.

Chef Franson's Braised Oxtail
Slow-braised in Chef Franson's seasoned African red sauce and served with coconut rice. One of Chef Franson's signature dishes and the order for someone who wants Thanksgiving to taste like Chef Point.

Blackened Atlantic Salmon
Pan-seared salmon with lemon beurre blanc, mashed potatoes and garlic green beans. A lighter choice that still feels like a holiday dinner.

What Nots and Lobster Bisque
Start the table with the dishes regulars already know. What Nots are mushroom caps filled with Chef Point's secret three-cheese blend and baked in house-made garlic butter. The lobster bisque is rich, creamy and made with Chef Franson's own seasoning blend.

Bread Pudding
The dessert is connected to Chef Point's Food Network history. It is one of the most popular orders on Thanksgiving, and it can sell out. Save room—or order it before you think you need to.

Oxtail

One Table. Completely Different Orders.

This is where an à la carte Thanksgiving menu earns its place.

Dad wants prime rib. Grandma wants the traditional turkey dinner. Someone always wants seafood. The Chef Point regular at the table is ordering oxtails no matter what day it is. The kids want macaroni and cheese.

Everyone gets Thanksgiving dinner. Nobody has to pretend they wanted the same thing.

The full bar is open, with cocktails, wine, local beer and a substantial whiskey selection.

Who Comes to Chef Point on Thanksgiving?

The Family That Does Not Want to Host

No grocery run. No timing for five dishes in one oven. No spending the rest of the night cleaning the kitchen. Come in, have dinner and go home.

The Group That Cannot Agree on a Menu

Turkey, prime rib, seafood, oxtails, pot roast and stuffed entrées can all be on the same table. That is much easier than negotiating one family menu.

The Couple Keeping It Simple

Thanksgiving does not have to mean cooking for twelve people. Reserve a table for two, have a drink, eat what you want and let us take care of the rest.

The Solo Traveler Near DFW Airport

Chef Point welcomes solo diners, including travelers staying near the airport. Reserve a table or sit at the bar and have a real Thanksgiving meal instead of settling for hotel food.

The Family Picking Someone Up From DFW

Chef Point is about seven minutes from DFW Airport. Guests coming directly from the airport can bring luggage inside and ask for it to be kept behind the host stand while they eat.

Not Your Typical Thanksgiving Restaurant

Chef Point Watuaga Gas Station

Chef Point originally opened inside a Conoco gas station after Chef Franson Nwaeze and his wife, Paula, could not get traditional financing for a restaurant.

The kitchen was built behind the gas-station store, but the menu included dishes no one expected to find there—oxtails, lobster bisque, duck and bread pudding.

Food Network eventually came looking. Today, Chef Point is a full upscale-casual restaurant in Colleyville, but Chef Franson is still behind the food.

That history makes Thanksgiving here feel less like eating at a chain and more like joining a restaurant that a family built together.

How to Do Thanksgiving at Chef Point

Best Time to Reserve

The 11 AM–1 PM window fills first, often several weeks before Thanksgiving. Afternoon and early-evening service stay busy, too.

Can You Walk In?

Yes, but do not count on immediately getting a dining-room table. Walk-ins should expect a wait and may be offered seating at the bar.

If no reservations are showing online, that usually means the dining room is already committed.

Want a Specific Dish?

Come earlier. Several menu items are prepared only for Thanksgiving, and popular dishes can begin selling out around 5 or 6 PM.

A later reservation may be easier to find, but the menu will probably be more limited.

Is the Regular Menu Available?

No. Chef Point serves only its curated Thanksgiving menu that day.

Bringing Children?

A children's menu is available, with options such as a junior turkey dinner and macaroni and cheese.

Bringing a Large Group?

Book as early as possible. For a party larger than the online reservation system allows, call Chef Point directly.

Bring Chef Point to Your Thanksgiving Table
