A Gas Station, a Dishwasher, and a Father's Day Worth Telling.
Father's Day at Chef Point in Colleyville — seven minutes from DFW Airport, three Food Network features deep, and the kind of place a guy who built something will respect.
Most dads don't need another tie. They need a story they can tell at work on Monday.
Chef Franson Nwaeze came to America from Nigeria to be a pilot, ended up washing dishes to pay the bills, and couldn't get a bank to loan him money for a restaurant. So he and his wife Paula bought a gas station instead, ripped out the back, and started cooking duck à l'orange and lobster bisque next to the motor oil.
Twenty-plus years and three Food Network features later, the restaurant lives in Colleyville — seven minutes from DFW — and Father's Day is one of the days the whole place feels right.
